Physical Education

Physical Education at Colgate

Our Curriculum Intent

Growth

At Colgate, all children will experience a range of sporting activities and develop the physical skills and knowledge to stay physically active and make healthy life choices. We want our children to grow and develop the tools and understanding required to make a positive impact on their own physical health and well-being. Our children will develop resilience in success and failure in competitive, individual and team based physical activities. At Colgate, children will understand the importance of physical activity and looking after our mental health, whilst developing their self-esteem through the development of physical confidence and team sports.

Diversity

At Colgate, our children to develop an understanding of the diverse range of athletes who compete on a national and international level. We want our children to understand the range of life experiences these athletes had growing up. All children will participate in a range of sporting events, allowing children to see the range of opportunities open to them. At Colgate, our children are encouraged to challenge some of the stereotypical views in sports, providing equal opportunities for all.

Community

At Colgate, we will encourage children to participate in physical activity within our local and wider community. All children will be given the opportunity to take part in team sports and charity events with other schools. We make links with other organisations to allow children to understand the importance of a healthy diet and physical activity. Our children, will become great young leaders, organising and officiating events, whilst being motivating and instilling excellent sporting attitudes in others.

Please note our curriculum colour, to support the children's learning in PE is light pink.
